Hi Dick/Billy,

Sorry if i had upset you by posting so. :( As i already explained you(Dick), i din't mean to offend you by posting. My aim was to gather knowledge as i am a beginner. Pardon me if you had taken this in the other way.

I you had posted a question here, and got no response, we'd not be worried. But you got responses. When you then post the same question somewhere else, it can only really mean you didn't like what you got here. If you were "gathering knowledge", does this mean to you just asking the same question as many times as possible?

In your knowledge gathering, have you now mastered Easytrieve?

The is much information "out there" that would help you to learn. The best way to go about it, as far as I'm concerned, is to try to find the answers yourself, then seek help, setting out what you have done, think, and don't understand, so that you can get nudges in the right direction. If you just keep asking the same, very basic, question, then you have shown no evidence of doing anything for yourself. If anyone just feeds to the full answer and you just take it on board, you'll never know why it is right (or if it is right) and you'll never know how to start to look for your own answer next time.

Bear in mind that if people are going to the effort to help you out in what they consider is a useful way for you, then looking elsewhere for responses to the same question will indicate a dislike for the advice received so far.

If your intention is to do nothing for yourself and expect someone else to do it for you, we'll get the picture.

This forum is for beginners and students. We are more lenient here. We won't tell you to try it in Easytrieve if your intent is to find your way through Cobol. We'll try to get you there, but only if you are capable of learning and coding. But we don't like wasting our time.

If you want to get back to the program, tell us the answers to questions/thoughts posed, and what your next problem is/was and whether it is now working, or not.
