Sort instructions

I don't need an answer. This is not a formal question. If I were to ask a formal question then I should study the POPs and provide details. Instead I am being very vague. I first began reading the POPs in about 1971. In later years I saw that an instruction (actually a set of instructions, correct?) was added to assist with sorting. I never studied it long enough to figure out how to use it. The description of it (them) seemed so vague that it was not intended to be understood. I don't need to know how now; I currently have no use of it. The only use would be to explain to others how powerful the instruction set is.

Is there anyone here that is familiar with that?

When the "sort" instructions appeared back in the 1990s I spent considerable time trying to understand them, and came away completely mystified. Every once in a while I spend a couple of hours with them, and I'm still lost.

Thank you Steve. That obviously matches my experience.
