Mainframe Client Simulators

Hi, could some one tell me good mainframe client simulators for practicing (COBOL etc..) so that i don't need to connect to a server and practice from home. Thanks!!

Mainframe 'client' simulators? What? Client? A mainframe is a mainframe. If you want to connect to it you connect via telnet from home, a PC workstation or 327x type terminal at work. A mainframe is a totally different architecture and way of working from a PC.

To practice COBOL get a PC cobol compiler - there are some that are free.

If you want to run mainframe software on your PC you should look at the PC Simulators and Emulators section of the forum which is where this question should have been posted - you did read the forum rules before posting as you are meant to, didn't you?

Hello,

Depending on how much time and effort you want to invest, you might look into Hercules. This will let you run a "mainframe" on your pc.

Once Hercules is installed, you then need to install the mvs operating system.

Suggest you look around on the Hercules site:
