Hi,

Is it necessary to mention SORT WORK (SORTWK01) files always whenever we use SYNCSORT?

Please suggest.

Thanks.

If your sort can get enough work space in the address space to keep all the records in memory then you do not need sort work space. That will be a function of the allowed REGION and the various CORE settings for Syncsort.

No. In addition to Bill's comments, you can also enable dynamic allocation of SORTWORK space either via the DYNALOC installation option or the DYNALLOC runtime parameter. (Please note the difference in spelling).
