Do you know any programming languages? A simple task, unless you have not the right skills... I don't suppose it is possible to get the latest version of the Sort?

I know I can get the same thing done by coding a COBOL program. However, I don't want to simply create a new component when the same can be achieved by writing 1 or 2 steps though some utility in JCL.
I was hopeful that JOINKEYS would help me but unfortunately I cannot get the latest cersion of the SORT installed. So was hoping if anyone has any equivalent idea to achieve the same?

You might try with the SPLICE operator of SYNCTOOL ,
but we cannot tell for sure
SYNCSORT MANUALS are not pubicly available while DFSORT are

being the two competitive products they share many common facilities
and You can get useful hints anyway from the SMART SORT TRIKS here

If your version of SYNCSORT supports SYMNAMES then use that - first step use file one to create a symname and second step to use it.
