Syncsort FILSZ parameter

Postby The Mean Farmer » Wed Oct 02, 2013 12:08 am

I have what I hope is a simple question. I have read the SyncSort manual for the syntax of the FILSZ parm indicating a exact or and Estimated record count. I am just curious the effect this has on the system?

Does it calculate the SORTWRK areas dynamically? Does it know how much CORE to use? Does it speed up processing versus another type of PARM or MAXSORT / PARASORT.

I believe that it is used to calculate the amount of work space (SORTWKnn data sets) to dynamically allocate. It is also used as a check; if the record count differs from what's specified as an exact count, the job is terminated.
