How to Categorize VSAM files as KSDS,ESDS& RRDS using rexx

Postby Ramji Ram » Wed Nov 16, 2011 3:14 pm

The Requirement is to tag the file type for the given list of files. Using REXX, I'm able to group the files as FLAT,GDG & CLUSTER . Is it possible to further classify the VSAM cluster files as KSDS, ESDS & RRDS in rexx?

Appreciate ur help

Yes, you will need to invoke LISTCAT and parse the output

If the LISTCAT output includes NUMBERED, it is RRDS. If the LISTCAT output includes INDEXED, it is KSDS. If you see neither of these terms, it is ESDS. I haven't looked at enough LISTCAT output to distinguish the other types of VSAM files (yet).
