True, I want this to be a one-person product, rather than start a mushroom organisation.

it does not make any difference,
You will have to set up a one person organization.
the concerns I listed do not depend on then number of people involved
are TODOs for any <commercial> activity You might want to setup.

How do I reach out to Dave Cole/Jim Walker? Do they have an e-mail address, where I can drop them a line, or a website on the Internet?

what is wrong in searching/googling for them yourself ???

anyway the common network etiquette and interpersonal communication convention say that it is improper to write to people You do not know asking for advice.

Thank you Enrico, for that. Sure, I'll bear that in mind.

internet is <your> friend, but it can also be <your> worst enemy...

when I evaluate a product I do some research , also on the author profile
I guess that the same will be done by the technical support of the candidate customers of Your <product>

unfortunately searching for "Quasar Chunawalla"

will report all the forum topics where You asked help on rexx, ispf
related to Your DB2/SQL Editor
an also other posts with very basic questions, like for example
clist-rexx/topic8063.html

frankly ( no offense meant )
the search and the links returned do not put You in a very good light as a commercial software developer ...
and will certainly cause negative overall comments by the techies

and worst of all
the topics on the hercules forum about using the IBM adcd on the hercules platform
wiil cause very nasty comments by legally oriented people
( illegal use of licensed software )

If You google for
David Cole, Jim Walker, Lionel Dyck, Gilbert Saint Flour (RIP), others
You will certainly notice that no one of them ever asked for help on public forums

wiser for the future to keep a very low profile and try to solve/learn to solve Your problems by Yourself

what if a customer reports a problem, and You find hard to solve it Yourself
pretty embarassing to ask for help on a public forum  , don' t You think

good luck anyway

PS.
I would start releasing something as freeware on the CBT TAPE,
it will give You more slack about fixing problems

a pay for product ( even a one man effort ) will imply a committment for defect fix
and that is the main point to worry about

Hi Enrico and everyone else-

Yeah, I would love to get this out on CBT Tape, and I am going to read the procedures on the website, to send my freeware to them. However, its still a long-way, before I get this thing complete and tested.

Enrico, thanks a tonne for everything you wrote in the last post, it is a real eye-opener. I appreciate it and take it positively.

Thanks,
Quasar
