MAINFRAMES AND JAVA

Postby naayar » Thu Mar 25, 2010 7:48 am

I am a B.Tech grad(cse). i know java and oracle. As required for my project in final year of B.Tech , i learnt java and oracle . Now i m going for MAINFRAMES training.

1 . After my training , in interviews, is it worth to put in java and oracle with mainframes in my resume ?
2. how is java helpful or related to mainframes ?

Hello and welcome to the forum,

If i was submitting your resume, i would include the information about Java and Oracle. This might influence a potential employer to select you over someone else just out of school.

2. how is java helpful or related to mainframes ?
Java is another way of implementing. I don't know that it is "related" to mainframes, but IBM is often lookiing for people with Java knowledge/experience.
Hope this helps,
d.sch.

Java runs on z/OS so putting it on your resume certainly won't hurt.
