F-SYS STATUS vs F-NRD STATUS

Postby samb01 » Wed Mar 06, 2019 8:56 pm

Heelo,

usually, i init volume with PGM=ICKDSF
But before, i put the adress offline.
After that, i display status adress and i'am suprised to see :

Code: Select all

UNIT TYPE STATUS        VOLSER     VOLSTATE      SS
3741 3390 F-SYS                        /RSDNT     0

I used to see : F-NRD STATUS, but F-SYS STATUS, it's the first time.
So i can't know if i even could init the volume or not.
I saw in that link : https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgece ... ff457i.htm
F-SYS mean : Allocated to system
May i choose an other adress ?

Samb01, we are all getting tired of responding to things where you have not bothered do do any research. What does the documentation say for message IEE457I? It will tell you without begging us to do your research for you.

I have done this research, mostly to make sure the documentation does tell us, but I ain't going to repeat it here. DO THE RESEARCH YOUR SELF

Absolutely agree ............... we are a help forum and not a training school. For future questions / problems please show us exactly what research that you yourself have done before posting.

However, I would be willing to help you anyway ............... once that my consultancy fee has been paid, a good deal at 700 GBP per day or part thereof.

I fail to see why this site even exists if not to simply trash every living soul who dares ask a simple question by the alleged experts who live here. The amount of time it takes to respond you could just as easily have given the poor soul the answer to their questions.

But it is entertaining which is really only reason to visit this forum at all.

if You had looked at the posting history of mr. samb01 You would have noticed that he/she uses the forum as a manual reading service and trainig center
so the flame is more than justified

http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

is a good read on what and how to ask

PS
if You are in for entertainment

http://ibmmainframes.com/viewtopic.php? ... ol+fortran

and search for more topics from the same user
cheers

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort
