IDCAMS VERIFY & RETURN CODE 12

Hi,
i have a need to verify whether a particular vsam file is created already or not. while i tried to execute the code, the error message is as follows

when i checked manually, the VSAM file exists.
anyone please tell what is the return code for the verify command when the file exists and what is the return code of 116 stands for.

I think you are misinformed. The VERIFY command of IDCAMS is used to check that the index and data components of a KSDS are synchronized (if a job abends while using the file, the index and data components may not have been successfully updated together). The VERIFY command is not used to determine whether or not a file exists. If you look up the IDC error message in the Messages and Codes manual, you can find out exactly what the 116 return code means.
