But what really drives me mad is when someone asks "what is a region" and then comes back saying he takes regions for breakfast every day. You want to blame me for that? Go ahead.

My question is still unanswered, so if anybody can help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

If I knew the correct and proper terminology I'd probably know the details behind, and consequently I wouldn't need to come to disturb you guys with my questions.
Fielding these questions is not a disturbance at all - it is kinda why we're here :)

None of my clients have ims dc, but i suspect that if the ims dc region has the dd allocated, it can be written to.

Suggest you speak with your dba or ims support. Anything that is supported on your system, they should know the particulars of.

apart the confusion between input and output, writing truckloads of bullshit,
blaming others for Your incompetence and other smaller details
can You read ?...
looks like not

remember , answering is on
1) voluntary base,
2) our own time
3) our own equipment
4) free of charge
5) interest in the question posed
6) attitude of the person seeking for help ( AKA benevolence factor )

and the philosophy of forums ( any ) gives to responders some more privileges!
1,2,3,5,6 ==> to which questions reply
4,6 ==> how to reply

the question as posed, and Your stupid attitude
put You question at the very bottom of anybody' s priority and desire to get involved

anyway ...

the answer is in the F******manuals,
stop contemplating Your smartness and start reading them

hint ... stream oriented dataset are by all means zOS datasets
( stream oriented is a pl/i and reading and writing take place thru DD statements )
what type of datasets You can access for different classes of IMS processes/regions/transaction_types is explained in the manuals
to save You some of Your precious time(*) I took the liberty to post the link where all this is CLEARLY explained
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/ ... 1022091740 chapter 3
it will clarify Your ideas about the whole region/batch/online/ shebang
and if You will be so humble to try to understand it will also help You to learn and use the right terminology

best regards and season greeting

(*) so that You can keep up writing silly remarks
P.S. wikipedia should never be considered as the final source of any info, the contents are not subject to any formal review!

Thanks for the info, Enrico.
I understand your anger and frustration, really. I'd feel the same if Berlusconi were my Prime Minister.

Season greetings for you too.

I wonder why people always play the "the doctor is in, 5 cents please " game with me ? :D
maybe because they know that I am a really sweet person, but I hate doctors!
it really baffles me, there are people on the forums who give replies more rude than mine and nobody ever dares to complain

believe me, i do not have any reason for anger or frustrations,
id I had I would deal and cool them off in a very different way! :D

sadism ? probably yes Sir, but that' s all,
just plain word playing and dialectic expertise here :D
if I really want to offend I usually use softer words and irritating irony

think about for example, if I had said something like
it would be wise for You to refresh Your ideas with a colon hydro therapy session/treatment
softer but more offensive, :D :D :D

but please, please, meditate seriously a bit on the whole thread,
You might try to see also the other people point of view

as I said on another forum
my tone here is very sweet , when I deal with paying customers I am usually much more rude ...
the relation is by agreement based on no nonsense, no bullshit, let's not waste time
...
and too often on forums there is too much bullshit, too much nonsense, too much time wasted!

hence my reactions

apart the dialectic warfare You question was badly posed and carried on

title talks about input, and the text talks about put_stream
in IT even the smallest details set the first impression, the tone of the dialog and its continuation

and whether You like or not this dialog was flawed and had given a bad impression from the very beginning

lets take for example also the PLITDLI reference
But this program runs online (called from another via plitdli).

a program is not called by PLITDLI..
PLITDLI is the STUB that is linked with any/Your program to interface with IMS
it will be used in any environment ( IIRC also 20 years ago in DOS/VS for DOS/DL1)
PROGRAMM==>PLITDLI==>IMS not the other way around

the fact that You are not having any visible symptom does not mean that You are doing the right thing
the rules are clear from the manuals link posted ( shortened and approximated )
message oriented processes/regions
MPP message q. + <strict> IMS/SQL resources
BMP message q. + IMS/DB2 as MPP + GSAM + ZOS datasets

other regions
almost everithing around zOS

but the whole detail is explained very clerly in the manuals

P.S.
the dwarf You mean? :D

Enrico, the problem with insults and anger is: there is the literal part, and the intentional part. The literal part is clear, the intentional is open to interpretations. You may say someone he is a son of a b* with full love in your heart. Or even "I love you f***** dumb!".
I can read that from your message: you first disciplined me, and then allowed me to access the fountain of your knowledge as a loving parent.
What do I do? Should I take the discipline? Ignore it? Reply to it?
I understand the culturals behind it. Why? Well, because I'm not from China, but from Argentina, where half of us carry italian gens. My very last name is italian.
At the end, I got more from your anger than from your indifference.

another follow on not strictly related to this topic, it might fit in the general talk and fun stuff

it' s Christmas. it's time to be honest with everybody!
it' s about the no nonsense, no bullshit. no waste of time, anger, frustrations and friends, and my general posting style

as I said VERBATIM to my manager the day I reached <appropriate age>

since I am <appropriate age> old i feel I have earned the right to reply to anybody in any f***** way I want
whether the anybody likes it or not, and I do not give a s*** about it,
and now it' s somebody else problem, not mine

I have been doing it for quite a few years, never had any issues, rather with quite a bit of success
and that' s what I am going to keep doing around here
and if (generic)You ask my why, I will reply ... because I can ...tah tah tah tah folks :D

/ keeping on with the humor

I was seated on a bus with a lot of youngsters sitting around and a lady standing
an idiot asked me, for what reason I would not let the lady sit down
I was in a good mood and started replying with my softest and most humble voice

You see, Sir, I have had a lots of misfortunes in my life, but the worst was that
I was raised in a family with principles who took pride in teaching me the good manners,
so in all these years Sir....
I have walked under the rain in the middle of the street to let others walk by the walls not get wet
I have traveled on buses standing in order to have other sit
I let other people pass me in the queues ( and a couple of time they even bought the last item I was looking for )
still sweet and humble about these misfortunes
and suddenly I yelled in the meanest way I could
NOW I AM GETTING FED UP WITH ALL THIS BULL**** AND THE TIME HAS COME TO TURN THE TABLES AND START TRAVELING SITTING
( all interspersed with F***** adjective )
and after that again with my sweetest and humble voice
don' t You think so, Sir (*) :D
one of the youngsters let the lady sit down and the guy disappeared at the first stop and got on the next bus

season greetings to Y' all

(*) I guess that he understood that Sir did stand for You f***** Idiot

What do I do? Should I take the discipline? Ignore it? Reply to it?

not easy to answer, all depends on the relative balance

from my point of view the discipline is more about style, attitude, wisdom, ethics
rather than about the technical issue itself

I seldom question the technical side but I bash/discipline quite often the other aspects of the topic

I bash people but I also take time to develop snippets and run tests specific to the questions being asked
and prefer to provide more than a plain Yes/no answer
( teach how to fish, rather than keep feeding people with fish )
