Hello,

what is the problem with me (or anyone else) going through the old problems hoping that the answers might help beginners and students

Personally, i see no problem. On our larger, older board, people have been reminded about replying to inactive topics and when i became a moderator, i continued this. When this forum was opened, we have done the same thing here.

Somethng to consider is that many (most) of the replies we recieve to old topics are from people who don't have any more of an answer than where the thread ended and often the "new" reply is completely misleading. Often (i believe) these are "practice posts"

Probably not. Only if there are posts that don't add to the content of the thread do we tend to remove them. Lots of times someone will post a reply that repeats what is already posted - which is no reason to re-activate an inactive topic.

For me, Easytrieve Plus is a very useful tool. It can be used for very complex tasks, whilst at the same time keeping things simple. But it can be used badly, very badly. Something that looks like it works, but doesn't completely or all the time. Anyone care? If so, is this board part of that discussion or not?

Very useful. A couple of the organizations i've supported write only Easytrieve for their applications. . .

I apologise for the belatedness, but thanks for your reply. I have refrained from meddling with old questions, although it is hard, man, hard, when I see some of the stuff there. Anyway, I have led us way off the topic of this original thread.
