FTP Error: 999 Login Failed

Postby nicole » Thu Jul 22, 2010 11:13 pm

*** START - EXECUTE FTP SCRIPT
Sending to - TELMVS2 - tel2test
###FTP Error: 999 Login Failed - D
FTP session closed.
*** END - EXECUTE FTP SCRIPT

Can anyone tell me how I can fix this? I just finished compiling my easytrieve program and got the above error.

Although it is not clear, probably either the user id or password is not valid. This could be due to the server not recognizing the user id, the password being wrong for the user id, having line numbers in your input (FTP does not "understand" line numbers -- at all), having the wrong server name, and so forth. The problem most of the time is something to do with the remote server, although line numbers do cause a number of problems I've seen.

Hello,

That is not an Easytrieve error. . .

Why is FTP needed to compile?

Suggest you post more complete diagnostic informaton as well as whatever was submitted (jcl and control statements) that is failing.

Your duplicate topic has been locked. . . There is no reason to post the same question multiple times. . .
Hope this helps,

Sorry if I posted twice, I thought I was in the wrong place last time. Ok this is what is going on. I am compiling an easytrieve program and it does not compile and i get the ftp error. I don't understand it either, because I checked the proc and jcl and I don't see anything to do with FTP. I have only worked with easytrieve a few times and am by far no expert. So any help or point me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello,

Sorry if I posted twice, I thought I was in the wrong place last time.
Not to worry :)

Suggest you post the submitted job and control statements as well as file 2 in the queued output (JESJCL). Then post the last bit from the Easytrieve compile output.

From there we can see what has happened or what we would ask for next.
Hope this helps,

Hi Dick

I guess you were right. I had changed my password on the production mainframe this morning and forgot to change it in my environmental variables. so now i'm getting my usual error, but it did compile. Thanks for your advice, much appreciated.

Hi Nicole,

You're welcome, thanks for the followup :)

Someone will be here if there are additional "opportunities".

Good luck :)
