There is nothing to stop you, temporarily, putting something like:
 name-for-the-key-I-want 1 22 A

or
 name-for-the-key-I-want file-record 22 A


so that you can get on with the Easytrieve and work on the rexx/convince someonelse when you have spare moments.

Hello,

Suggest you consider using the CBLCNVRT macro(s)s that are available free with Easytrieve.

This macro will convert cobol data definitions to Easytrieve definitions. The only problem i've found is OCCURS DEPEIDING ON, but if the macro will convert 99% for you it is probably useful,
