Hello All,

I was looking for the description of variable characters in Easytrieve.
Went through the CA-Easytrieve manual, & could not find anything significant.
Came across numneric (N), alphanumeric (A), packed decimals (P), but couldn't find varchar.

Please let me know regarding the variable characters description. An example will be great. Thanks !!!!

Did you look at VARYING on the DEFINE statement in the manual?

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Which release of Easytrieve are you using?

VARYING is on page 4-9 of my documentation.

Google is your friend. Googling varying easytrieve returns 4,570 results and the very first result is a link to the Easytrieve 6.2 manual which describes VARYING.
