We use Attachmate Reflection and it has a File Transfer dropdown option. What emulator are you using?

We use FTP (PGM=FTP) to authorized FTP servers.

Your post is confusing -- are you wanting to PUT data from the mainframe, or are you attempting to GET data using a Windows command prompt? If you want to FTP data by running a batch job (or whatever) on the mainframe, then the mainframe needs to connect to a server. Your desktop, like most desktops, almost certainly does not have the software installed to act as a server -- hence if you want to run a batch job on the mainframe to connect to your desktop, then the answer becomes almost certainly what you want will not be possible.

If you want to use a Windows command prompt to connect to a mainframe and pull the data from it, then you should have no problems finding information about the FTP commands. On a z/OS system, the information about these commands are available in the Communications Server bookshelf in the IP User's Guide manual. The normal default is to transfer data as text; if you want the specific .TXT file extension on your file then you issue the FTP subcommand with the extension.

we do not know anything about Your organisation standards and practices,
any answer we give will probably be wrong/misleading and You will have to ask Your support group,
better to start asking them from the beginning
cheers

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort

The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.
