Hello and welcome to the forum,

No need to shout. . . Turn off your CAPS LOCK. . .

Which sort poduct is used on your system?

Follow up. . .

You need to post some sample input and the output you want from the sample input. Mention any "rules" for processing.

Mention the dsorg and lrecl of the files.

Properly speaking, this probably belongs in the DFSORT section rather than here since ICEMAN is part of DFSORT. In addition, we need to know the location of the keys and their types ICEMAN is supposed to use.

Hello,

Quite a few systems use "ICEMAN" even though they do not use DFSORT.

Some also use ICETOOL even though they are running Synctool.

Hopefully, TS will clarify.

I think, that is to ensure compatibility between DFSORT and Syncsort or vice versa.

For example, you have set-up an alias as ICEMAN. If you migrated from Syncsort to DFSORT, then none of your job steps are impacted once the alias points correctly. Same about ICETOOL and SYNCTOOL. The best way to know is to look into SYSOUT (or, DFSMSG, TOOLMSG, etc.) Syncsort products report messages with IDs prefixed with WER whereas DFSORT prefix is IEC.

Similarly, when a IEBGENER step has run, chances are the message prefix in SYSPRINT would be IEC (indicating a call to ICEGENER) rather than IEB (a call to IEBGENER).

DFSORT's prefix is ICE, not IEC. IEC is a system message prefix.

TRUJO55,

If you are using DFSORT, you can access all of the DFSORT books online for free from:

http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss? ... g3T7000080

If you need more specific help, you need to explain exactly what you're trying to do with examples of input and output, RECFM and LRECL, etc.
