set statement

Create a JCL to delete a file and if this step is executed successfully create a new file with same name as the deleted file and with the extension as your name and also the file must contain your name as the contents of the file. Use set statement for having the file name and the name of the person.

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort

Hello and welcome to the forum,

I suspect this is a class assignment. . .

Where are you stuck?

What is supposed to be used to delete the file? What kind of file is this (qsam, vsam, etc).

Mainframe files do not have "extensions". If your name is longer than 8 characters it cannot be used in the mainframe dataset name.
Hope this helps,
d.sch.
