This is a new question. Start a new topic.

The JESMSGLOG and JESYSMSG datasets contain data related to your job. Some of their contents may include security related information.

Dick I read the dataset but its empty I am sure it is wrong. When I read the g0007v00 file it just takes me into an EDIT panel where it is in resemblace to the one in which I am used to type JCL code into. And moreover, Steve How will I inculcate JESMSGLO and JESYSMSG information to output my SMF data in the generation. What's the code.

You don't. There is no direct relatonship between the JES datasets and the SMF log. Some of the information can be found in both places, but they are not "the same".

Until you gain much more depth on the mainframe, you should discontinue this exercise. What you are trying to do (and i'm not sure what that is as you have not psted anything specific) is not for a student / beginner.

Hello,

On the empty file. This is probably beacause the unload specification is incorrect.

Hello,

If the process asks for anything related to "xyzzy" and there are none, the operastion will be successful - it will simply have no output.

What does the informational output from the run show? The answer is not nothing. . .

I am not a beginner.
Opinions may vary. Only a beginner would not know what these are:JESMSGLOG, JESJCL and JESYSMSG. Possibly your experience is on Win-based or *NIX systems - which do not relate well to the mainframe.

I know what they are. I go to ISPF>S>ST> select the job and put ? next to it, I see all kids of things there, in the spool. JESSYSMSG etc. Moreover, the jobs runs succcesfully, and it means there is nothing in the records however it shows 140111 records processed. lol?:)

Hello,

As has been asked multiple times. Post the informational / diagnostic info generated by the run. Also, post the exdpanded jcl, not just the part you submit.

In your run, what does "processed" mean? Might this be the number of records read rather than written?

Once you post info we can use, it will cease to be a mystery.
