Well, you can get rid of the messages - do not attempt the delete of a non-existent dataset.

I have to say this whole thread, which i read from start to finish underlines what seems to be happening in our dwindling arena called work.
In my 40+ years of working with manframes i have never come across such a situation, where 1 had to explain 3 or more times the same thing to the same individual, over a space of less than 2 days.
Our jobs seem to be disappearing at a rapid rate, to those with little or no practical knowledge of the facilities available, with seemingly NO education in how to use it.
This, i suspect would not have been tolerated only 20 years ago, but now everything is about money, and saving it.

Sorry for the rant, its over now, but i remain frustrated at the way this whole industry is moving.
In a very few years, all the collective knowledge on this extremely worthwhile forum will be lost, but what is to replace us?, the people askng the ridiculous questions today!!!!, thats a sobering thought.
Also this thread is about VSAM and IDCAMS, NOT JCL.

halfteck, cannot agree more. The one thing I could say in defence of OP/TS is that, although he never mentions it, he is in college learning these things so he does not have the usual experienced colleagues to bounce things off of. If he is in college then the teaching is so poor that it should be closed or he is so poor at picking things up that he should switch careers. I f not in college then he has to learn to ask his co-workers and look at the manuals, look at other peoples libraries and use Google and learn to UNDERSTAND how things work.
