This is a question that relies ENITRELY upon the site. You cannot answer this question without referencing a particular site using the step-level accounting information. Most sites I've worked with do NOT use step-level accounting data but rather use job-level accounting information.

From my experience, it depends on the site requirements, working for the Gov'mt all JCL had to contain accouning info for each step, I belive this is a throw back to an old accounting/charging system, and the processes in place and the exit(s) and all that was inherited from an old aniquated system.
I've never worked anywhere else that required step accounting since 1998.

Hello,

Suggest you talk with the people who support the system management and accounting and learn the current rules.
