Slow down buba.......
When a task is running too long without accessing CICS.....
There is the autoskip attribute.....
Assuming CICS, CEMT I PROG(pgmname)....

When you have a new question, please start a new topic -- don't tag on the end of a topic (especially a topic which is COMPLETELY unrelated to what you are asking), and which is more than 7 years old.

Your post is also unclear -- are you wanting to have a program close and open the files, or use the native CICS transaction (hint: CEMT) to do this? Have you talked to your site support group? Surely there are other CICS regions at your site and they have the same issue -- so how was it resolved for these other regions? Some sites write (or buy) tools to handle closing and opening of files -- does your site have such a tool?

The bottom line is that you really need to contact your site support group as they will know about your site.
