CICS Attribute byte

Postby riya_kottoor » Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:00 pm

Hi,

Can anyone explain how we decide the values for bit 0 and bit 1 in the attribute byte for a field?
I read that values for these bits are determined by the contents of bits 2 to 7.

Please explain.

Thanks,
Riya

I would think this is self-explanatory. YOU do NOT decide the values for bits 0 and 1 in the attribute byte -- you decide what bits 2 through 7 need to be (based upon the field attributes you want), and the system then determines what bits 0 and 1 need to be. And no, IBM does NOT provide you any explanation about how the system determines what bits 0 and 1 will be set to -- this is one of those cases where you accept what the system gives you.
