Windows FTP to mainframe

Postby ftpuser » Fri Sep 07, 2007 6:24 pm

I am experiencing an issue FTPing a FLAT file from a HP Windows 2003 Server to an IBM mainframe using MVS data sets. The file transfer works for files less than 1387 bytes and appear to timeout for larger files. However, I am able to Append to the existing data set and exceed that 1387 byte threshold. I've tried modifying the lrecl, recfm and blksizes with no success.

Using the same FTP account and file, I was able to successfully FTP using another physical server that is on the same subnet and on the same OS.

The FLAT file is 44 bytes in length with CRLF for record termination.

Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hello,

I'd suggest trying to pre-allocate the dataset on the mainframe of the appropriate size and dcb info.

Sometimes, creating new files dynamically via FTP has problems.
Hope this helps,
