Mainframe Screen shots on clear background

Postby p19689 » Fri Oct 01, 2010 1:39 pm

Hi, I need to capture 3270 screen shots for documentation. But I need those without black background. When I do the following form the emulator screen: edit-> select all -> Control C -> Control V on to word, then it comes without the border and get unformated . Can you please advise how to do this? Do I need a word macro?

Suggest you use a fixed pitch font e.g. 'courier' or 'courier new'
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.

You probably cannot get the whole screen and change the background to white. You could, possibly, try setting the screen to have a white background and the do your snapshot. The only other way I can think of is to capture the screen, paste the image into a paint program and change the background there but that would not change the background within the characters, the middle of an O for example.

But why lose the black background - it is documentation so it should be as accurate as possible i.e. snapshots should reflect the reality.

what I sometimes did was copy the text without the borders , and paste it in a single row, single column table in word with a border and a gray shading.
It kinda looked like a screen .

Hello,

Change the terminal colors to a white background and then use a Windows capture. Paste this into the document.

When done, change the terminal colors back to normal (or define a different session with the alternate colors). The mechanics of this change from emulator to emulator, but should be available in the Help info.
Hope this helps,
d.sch.
