Coding BUFNO for Sortin could improve DFSORT Performance?

Postby jcaballa » Thu May 26, 2011 5:44 pm

Hy again everybody,
We would like to know about the impact of coding BUFNO for the SORTIN files in the JCLs for DFSORT Jobs. We are not sure that coding BUFNO could help but If someone has experience or some guidance about how to use BUFNO to improve DFSORT performance in big batch workloads, we would be glad to hear about it.

Thank you for your attention and help.

DFSORT does its own buffer management. From the manual:
DFSORT sets appropriate BUFNO values for the input and output data sets;
specifying BUFNO in the DD statements for these data sets has no effect.
