Save Settings Debug Tool

I am currently disusing XPED here to use DEBUG TOOL. But I always have to set up some commands when I use DEBUG TOOL (e.g: SET AUTO ON).
How can I save my settings? The Information that I've got from IBM is:
"You can place a set of commands into a data set, called a preferences file, and then indicate that file should be used by providing its name in the preferences_file suboption of the TEST run-time string. Debug Tool reads these commands at initialization and sets up the session appropriately"
But I didn't understant how to do it anyway or how can "call" this dataset when I start DEBUG TOOL. Who can help me with that?
