ISMF Totals

Postby DFuhr2010 » Sat Aug 13, 2011 12:11 am

Good Afternoon. I have created a listing within ISMF on data set entries. I used listprt to create an output data set, and when viewing the totals, there was a noticable discrepancy of total kbs allocated and totatl kbs used. It appears to be reversed. The KBS used is larger than KBS allocated. I attempted several different reports and received the same results.
What in ISMF would you recommend checking to see where the discrepancy is located?

Thank you in advance

Use the Code tag to post an example of what you are saying is happening.

Is the 'allocation' field only the primary allocation? If the datasets took extents, they would exceed that.

Compare a single dataset between your listing and what appears in ISPF dataset information. There may be other fields you'll need to bring into your calculations.

I ended up using a DCOLLECT call in IDCAMS to calculate things.

I have selected several data sets and it does appear extents are calculated in the total allocation. As far as what I am seeing, I'm including a snap shot of the totals from ISMF. Could not find the code tag to attach. I have written to IBM via LINK to ask the same information, but they have not responded. Below is a snapshot of the information:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Total Space
(3) ALLOC SPACE - 5259511K
(4) ALLOC USED - 174774080015K
No. of Entries - 1408

When you post a reply -- like this one -- there is a line of buttons immediately above the text box and below the Subject line. The FIFTH button is labelled "Code" and if you click it
you get a code start / end pair of HTML marks.

Not if you use the "quick reply"... To see those buttons, you need to be in the "Full Editor."

To get there, either click the "Full Editor" button while using quick reply, or use the "POST REPLY" button farther down the page.
