Your request makes absolutely no sense. Generally, a batch job is used for making backups, and there is no command involved. Second, what do you mean by "tape disk"? Third, the specific program used depends upon the site since different sites have different programs installed.

IBM has DF/DSS (ADRDSSU program) which is used for backups (disk to disk, disk to tape, tape to tape). There are software vendor packages such as FDR and ASM2 that can do this as well -- not to mention, depending upon the source file type, using IEBGENER, IEBCOPY, or other IBM utilities to make the backup.

The bottom line is that you must contact your coworkers, team leader, or site support group to find out which program to use for backups at your site. They can provide you with sample JCL, as well.

Hello,

First you have to determine what you want to backup. . . A file? Several files? All files beginning with some particular high-level qualifier? And on and on. . .

How are these backujps to be used? Only to restore in an emergency or as input to some other processes. Many "backups" are used for monthly, queaterly, or whatever reporting or data extraction.

Once youhave defined just what you need to accomplish, you need to talk with the prople Robert mentioned to learn what you need to use in your environment.
