Hi,

I am trying to email a report produced from the program.
When the report is creaed my profile has created it with "NUMBER ON" option and therfore SMTP does not recognises my report.

When I manually edit the report with "number off" and try to SMTP it works.

how should I set my profile to acheive this?

Create the report using a batch program -- batch programs do not use line numbers.

This report is from a batch program only. But when I open the o\p report it shows line numbers from col 72 to 80.

Did you issue UNNUM in your TSO / ISPF Edit session?
Why are you using TSO / ISPF EDIT -- why not View or Browse?
Why do you have to open the report at all -- why not just send it?
What is the LRECL of the report?
What is the RECFM of the report?

The SMTP job is not successful. That is when I opened the report to see what has caused the problem.
When I saw the line numbers, I did a num off, removed line numbers and submitted SMTP. It works after that.

SMTP does not care about line numbers in a report -- they are data to it. SMTP only cares about line numbers in its commands (where they are not allowed). If someone went in and edited the SMTP commands, adding line numbers to them, you need to revise the security for that file to not allow it to happen again. Once created, the SMTP commands shouldn't be changed so there would be no reason to edit them.

Were the SMTP commands part of "the report?" I'm guessing you have them in one big single file. If so, then editing the single file would put line nums in the SMTP command too.
