hiiii..........sounds like a sick donkey scream...
if Your mind were not busy looking somewhere else,
most probably it would have occurred to You that the best place to look for such info could be the application description ?

what kind of silliness is this ...
YOU created the vsam file and ask US where to find the copybook
how can You reasonably expect US to provide that info ?

and everybody else around here will certainly know how to find their copybooks in their organization...
not certainly in Yours

being a beginner does not exempt You from trying to use Your brain

You also seem marginally literate. A solid understanding of and proper usage of English is as important to a successful career in mainframe administrator or software development as important as an understanding of and ability with COBOL, SQL, or Rexx.

Now that you've had your slapping about for the day: you must realize that there need not be any particular relationship -- or any relationship at all -- between a DSN and a copybook member name (or it could be several names; a data set might contain record of several different formats, each of which is stored in a different copybook). Nor does IDCAMS, nor any third-party tool that I know of, create a copybook or copybooks in COBOL, PL/I, HLASM, C, Java, or RPG II when a data set of VSAM, QSAM, BSAM, BPAM, BDAM, or any other organization is created.

Since, at this point, only you know the structure(s) of the records, you must create the copybook(s), naming and handling according to the standards of your shop (or risk termination).

Hello,

if u know plz reply to question else know but don't send stupid messages like this because i am just a beginner in mainframes and i am not an expert like u!!!!!!!!!!!
If you keep this attitude, you will not be long in IT. You also need to lose the kiddie chat-speak. Full words and sentences are expected regardless of the level of your proficiency with the technology.

If you created the file, why would you believe there is magically a copybook created somewhere?

As only you probably know about this file, you will have to create the copybook - see the reply from Akatsukami. . .
