Hello,

Your post is quite confusing. . . If you "couldn't get anywhere", what (product?) is asking for visual studio and .net framework be installed?

MF Cobol is probably MicroFocus cobol and should be quite easy to find.

I don't know if MicroFocus has a free cobol compiler.

Suggest you start here:
http://www.microfocus.com
Hope this helps,

Hello,

What was the complication? Does MicroFocus have a free cobol compiler? Or was that the complication ($)?

You haven't mentioned why Visual Studio and/or the .NET framework are needed (as requested earlier). . .

If you look on the web for "open source" you may find something - not my area :)
Hope this helps,

Mahesh,
If it's complicated, I suggest you try solving it (if it is legal).
That will be the right attitude to be a programmer.

Hello,

On a cautionary note. . . .

If the MicroFocus (possibly the most widely used pc cobol compiler) download and install appear that complicated, actually implementing code is likely to be more so. . .
Hope this helps,

Hi Anuj,

Probably not.

If downloading the MicroFocus cobol is difficult, installing an entire mvs world on the pc would be much more so. . .
Hope this helps,

I just typed into google PC COBOL and Visual COBAL and got a lot of returns. I myself don’t currently have a COBOL compiler on my PC, but I am thinking of the NETCOBOL compiler. All the Visual COBOL will require one of MicroSoft Visual platforms.

hope this helps
