Upgrade from Z9 processor to Z10 and Z/OS 1.9 to Z/OS 1.11

Postby anoop76_99 » Tue Apr 13, 2010 8:49 pm

Hi,
We are upgrading from Z9 processor to Z10 and Z/OS 1.9 to Z/OS 1.11. I would like to know will there be any impact (compatibility issues) on the existing code (all technologies CICS, COBOL, IMS, DB2), in general and particularly in Assembler code.
If there is any impact then please let me know or guide me to a place where i can find details on the impact.

I believe there should not be any impact. Just wanted to make sure my thinking is correct.

Thanks
Anoop

IBM puts out impact documentation as part of their upgrade notices for each release of z/OS. If you've reviewed this documentation and not found any issues, you probably won't have any trouble with the upgrade. As far as the z9 to z10 upgrade goes, contact the vendor providing the hardware and work with them -- they've probably been through enough of these upgrades to be extremely familiar with any issues.
