I saw three posts on this exact same issue today: it looks as if IT people are being asked to provide data to or from Microsoft Excel. As far as I know, no one has yet developed a tool that can provide a complete conversion between raw data and the Excel .xls file format, with full formatting available.

Hello,

Suggest you speak with you peers and management to find out if there is some function that they do not have that they would benefit from having.

Something you might consider that while there are many expensive "tools" in the market that are not on your system, it may benefit your organization to implement similar functionality (or a subset) locally. Many (most) sites have some amount of local "own code" tools.

Is there some management direction to do this, or is this for educational reasons?

File # 769 R. Prins' edit macros to convert code/text into HTML, for Assembler, PL/I, REXX, COBOL, JCL (better than ISPF's HI) & SuperC (Incomplete support). Runs on z/OS and PCs. Package on the CBT tape site is somewhat out of date with regards to PL/I (and COBOL?) keywords.
