I don't understand what you mean by "manually". Regardless, the simplest thing to do would be to code
new.i = strip(new.i)

just before the LISTCAT command.

One more thing to note:

You were using the OUTTRAP() function. You probably should have been getting an error message:
IKJ56709I INVALID DATA SET NAME, '  REVIEW.GDG.G0201V00

Thanks for your time! I'm not sure why do i get this error. If the dataset name is the reason apologize i have a different HLQ. Apologize if i or my thoughts are wrong!

Please clarify: are you still getting an error message after removing the leading and trailing blanks?
