Hi there,
I'm working as a mainframe sysop since 2005. My question is that what can i expect in the future if i want to stay in the industry and to what directions can i move with operator experience?
Thanks for your answers in advance!

Re: The expectations for a mainframe operator.
Hello vtam and welcome to the forums,
1. a more senior operator
2. operations management
Depending on your organization, you may be able to move to scheduling or storage management. Also, depeniding on your organization, you may be able to move into the applications development area.
I suggest you think about "where you want to go" and then talk with your supervisor/manager about how to get there.
Well, the first 2 that come to mind areto what directions can i move with operator experience?

Thank you very much for your guidance.
By the way I'm working at IBM. I think the best for me would be to chose appl. development... Well it's just a matter of time
Thank you again!
