Can I pass numbers via JPn?

Postby harisukumaran » Fri Dec 06, 2013 7:05 pm

I need to pass the length of an outrec field to dfsort from a jcl symbolic variable.
I have been able to pass character values using JPn but that feature does not seem to support numeric values like field lengths. Sort automatically encloses the JPn values within C''. Thanks in advance.

Unless you are on DFSORT V2.1 you cannot use symbols to define a field length. JPn are special symbols. So you can't use JPn.

What are your tyring to do, we may have some suggestions?
