can anyone explain the control characters used in easytrieve? what does each represent?

If you are referring to the first character of a print line, those are ASA control characters, used for page eject, single, double and triple spacing.....

A numeric zero - Space 2 lines
A numeric one - Skip to line 1 on a new page
A minus sign - Space 3 lines
and the two you missed
A blank space - Space 1 line
A plus sign - Suppress space
