Significance of LOCKMAX parameter

IBM's hierarchical database management system with a Database Manager (IMS DB) and a Transaction Manager(IMS DC)

Significance of LOCKMAX parameter

Postby rskmfguy » Tue Dec 10, 2013 2:39 pm

Hi All,

One of my job which uses IMS DB abended with below error

+DFS629I IMS BATCH REGION ABEND - IMS 3301

After checking we found that LOCKMAX=70 was hardcoded in the PROC. The application failed when it exceeded this limit. I checked the option of overriding LOCKMAX value to 100 or 120 and restarting the job. But our DBA insisted it is not advisable to change the LOCKMAX value as it might bring down the IMS region.

He didn't have much information on this parameter. I checked the manuals and it said LOCKMAX can have value between 0 and 255. Is it true that changing the LOCKMAX value to 130 will bring down the IMS Region? Is there any other workaround to fix this issue?

Kindly help. Thank you in advance!!
