Hoping to use file-aid REFORMAT command...need help.

Postby Fatbull » Tue Jul 01, 2008 11:09 pm

I have a file that contains the part number in position 2-9.

I need to create a file to use as input to a subsequent program that has part number, a static date, and a static code of "5" in it.

I was hoping the reformat command in File-aid could possibly do this? If so, can you point to some examples of the command? It is not in any of the manuals I have.

Hello FB and welcome to the forums,

Is FileAid a requirement?

There are multiple examples of similar requirements in the forum that were done using a sort product (DFSORT or Syncsort).
Hope this helps,

Altho we do have syncsort, we're not really allowed to use it. :?

Hello,

But it is all right to use FileAid. . . :?:

Maybe someone familiar with fileaid/reformatting will have a suggestion.
Hope this helps,
