The only way to do it would be to write a program to generate the copy statements so that the copies can be done in background. It would be easy enough if you just want to copy the first x number of members to one PDS and the next y number of members to the next PDS and so on.
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.
