quoting the Fan Dezhi system on these forums is out of place,
it uses against IBM license the ADCD package,
and these forums do NOT condone software piracy

Enrico, what makes you think that FanDeZhi is illegally using an ADCD package? How can you be sure that Efglobe does not have a valid licence for its use? Don't you think that IBM would not have shut it down years ago if it is indeed illegal, which seems unlikely, given that it's been running for at least half a decade, if not more?

From what I've learnt so far, my concerns have nothing to do with the issues mentioned above about IBM IP.

Both packages I am looking at are open source (BSD and Perl like licenses). If I publish any modification for those, it would adhere with the original license. If I code a new thing I intend to publish it in a similar manner (probably BSD - even IBM uses it when appropriate, without any issue).

the ADCD ibm rules. STRONGER than the standard zOS rules

the fact that it is a 1.6 ( pretty old, isn' t it )

the fact that if You lurk thru the EFglobe pages there is no real content
just a truckload of chinese written paged
( even if the claim to be a toronto based company )
and You look smart enough not to fall for that bullshit :D
see for example the client page - quoted under the fair use assumption, so they cannot sue me

but no customer success stories yet :geek:

and when You click on the chinese link You get
...
How to Make a Corset Dress With Pictures
Wear fashion corsets
How to wear a corset by yourself
Wholesale fashion corsets
...
the pictures of the hardware installation show a very unprofessional environment

chasing chinese software pirates is as hard as chasing normal sea pirates :D

and since it is better be safe than be sorry it is wiser to avoid the subject
on a forum based on ethics and relatively good behavior

cheers

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort
