A link to manuals

A link to manuals

Postby NicC » Thu Feb 09, 2012 11:45 pm

Most boards have a link to 'the manuals' but I cannot find one on this board except in individual posts. Surely if one board needs such a link it is a forum for beginners and students. Could such a link be made - pretty please??
The problem I have is that people can explain things quickly but I can only comprehend slowly.
Regards
Nic

Hi Nic,

When this forum was first opened, i asked about making this available . . . Several times.

For whatever reason, this has not been done.

Maybe if many request it, a "manuals links" page will be made available.

I think a manuals link is an excellent suggestion. I also assumed there was one, and strongly think there should be.

This forum is still in testing stage, We will definitely add the manual page once the beta process completed.

I see the link is now available, at the bottom of the page.

Yup, however, that routes to a link from http://www.ibmmainframes.com/.

It certainly does. Is that a problem for an official sibling site? The manuals are the same, why maintain two copies of lists of manuals if not necessary? :-)

Possibly to try to keep the different "levels" of users separate?

Several times, i've guided some really new person back here after they "found" the other site.

We tend to be a bit less harsh on this forum . . . :|
Hope this helps,

A point, Anuj and Dick. There is also a plain link to the other forum. I've also "guided" people in the other direction, when their experience becomes revealed :-) Perhaps the manuals here, and change the link on the other site :-)

It took me days (if you want to know how many, it can be worked out) to notice the manuals link. I think it needs to be somewhere more visible.

What I've observed that couple of posters contacted me offline (PM) and in order to provide them with Manuals I've provided the link to other site (ibmmainframes.com) and then they registered themselves there to get banned later.

Personally, I'd say, it'd be nice if we keep these two site just separate - we might refer once in a while...

I believe we're, by very habits, habitual of having such links at the "top of page" and not "bottom" but then may be it is just to keep a different design from the other sister-site...
