Hello and welcome to the forum,

Here is a link to the Table of Contents for Enterprise COBOL:
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/ ... 0/CONTENTS?

If you search within that manual, there are multiple java references. Maybe these will be of help.

Also, here is the ToC for the Programming Guide:
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/ ... 0/CONTENTS?

This too has multiple java references.
Hope this helps,
d.sch.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Suggest you start another topic for the second part of your topic.

It does not appear to be Java related :?
Hope this helps,

Java can run on z/OS, just like COBOL, C, C++, and many other languages. There are applications of Java for mainframes but I don't think it is a very large market at this point.

Hello,

Invoke UNIX shell on mainframes and Run java programs in UNIX

On many systems, developers are not given permission to "do things" in Unix System Services . . .
Hope this helps,
