Max Length of a KEY In a FILE

could you please let me know the maximuam length of a key in a file(KSDS file).

This is not really a COBOL question since the length of the key is a VSAM issue. The answer (255 bytes) is in the DEFINE CLUSTER command in the Access Method Services for Catalogs manual in the DFSMS bookshelf.

Your best bet is to either find out where the manual is at your site or use the IBM site (http://www.s390.ibm.com) to locate the version of the manual for your release of z/OS.
